Who governs it, and what that means for you

Three bodies matter to a buyer.

  • Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA): formed in 2017, it oversees infrastructure and planning across the urban complex.
  • Municipal Corporation of Gurugram: runs civic services inside the city limits.
  • Haryana RERA: Haryana has two authorities, one for Gurugram district and another for the rest of the state. Projects in Gurugram are registered with HRERA Gurugram, so that is where you check a registration number and file complaints.

Land use follows the Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex Master Plan 2031, which the Town and Country Planning Department notified on 15 November 2012. It covers about 33,726 hectares of urbanisable area and plans for a population of 42.5 lakh by 2031. Revised sector plans are approved from time to time, so a plot or tower should be checked against the current approved plan for its sector.
